Open Mic storytelling , Quay Arts:

1st Feb 2007.

The floor was open to anyone who had a tale to tell.   Marion Carmichael's Tattercoats had us spellbound, Anne Gurisch's rendition of Roald Dahl's Red Riding Hood had us laughing, Sue Bailey told the ancient legend of the Lambton Worm. Two young people under the age of 13 joined in the telling when Tom Bailey informed us of the reason  Why the crab has no head and Thorne Bailey regaled us with an Anansi.

Storytelling: ‘Wight Wash’ (Press release)  (Poster)

Saturday 13th October 2007, 6 pm

Venue: Ryde Studio Theatre, Ryde High School

An evening of storytelling with local storytellers Marc Tuckey and Sue Bailey.

A highlight  of Wight Words was the evening of storytelling ‘Wight Wash’ in which Sue and Marc Tuckey of Ghost Walk fame put on a great evening of storytelling, with music provided by newly formed group ‘Flotsam’.  Their mixture of ghost stories, traditional salty tales and readings kept the audience entertained

Carry on Storytelling  (Poster)

Sunday 14th October 2007, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.  Venue: Sun Inn, Calbourne

An interactive storytelling event for all ages from 4 to 94

led by The Island Storytellers.

‘Carry on Storytelling’ was an uproarious romp through some traditional tales.  Red Riding Hood was told as it never has been before.  There was an Italian Wolf, an Afrikaans grandmother, a French mother, and a German Red Riding Hood.  And, of course, a genuine Black Country woodcutter.  Each character told their part of the story in their own language all nimbly held together by the narrative of talented poet Ruth Lockyer.

Storytelling

Wight Words:

This literary event organised in conjunction with Quay Arts featured plenty of storytelling.  There were sessions in libraries around the Isle of Wight for children (White Words) and adults (Wight Lies?) with good audiences.  The ‘Try Storytelling’ Workshop went well with all participants succeeding in telling a story by the end of the session.
